Alan Wake
What I liked
The atmosphere and mystery are the strongest parts. The game constantly makes you want to understand what is happening and what is real.
What I didn't like
Combat becomes repetitive. Shining the flashlight on enemies before shooting them is interesting at first, but after enough encounters it starts feeling like the same process again.
Story
The story is what kept me interested. Alan searching for answers while pieces of a manuscript seem to predict events creates a strange mystery that makes you want to continue.
Combat & Gameplay
Using light as part of combat is a good idea and gives the game something different from a normal third-person shooter.
Exploration & Open World
Bright Falls and the surrounding areas have a dark, isolated atmosphere that works extremely well with the story.
Final Thoughts
A very interesting story and atmosphere with a unique use of light, but the repetitive combat kept it from being better for me.
