God of War
What I liked
The story, characters, combat and world are all excellent. Kratos feels completely different from the character he was in the older games, and his relationship with Atreus gives the game much more emotion.
What I didn't like
Some enemies and optional activities can become repetitive, but it wasn't enough to seriously hurt my experience.
Story
This is one of the strongest parts of the game. What starts as a journey for Kratos and Atreus becomes much bigger, but the relationship between them remains at the center of everything.
Combat & Gameplay
The Leviathan Axe feels great. Throwing it at an enemy and calling it back never really gets old. As you unlock more abilities and equipment, combat gives you more ways to deal with different enemies.
Exploration & Open World
I liked that the game isn't completely open world but still gives you freedom to explore. There are optional areas, puzzles, side quests and powerful enemies to discover away from the main story.
Comparison
After also playing Ragnarök, I think both games are excellent. God of War is where this version of Kratos and Atreus really begins, while Ragnarök expands almost everything that was introduced here.
Final Thoughts
An excellent story-driven action game with great combat, memorable characters and a world that made me want to explore beyond the main story.
